JONATHON SCOTT PAYNE

Jonathon "Jonny" Payne lives in Madison, Alabama, with the most spoiled-rotten cats in the entire world – and wouldn’t have it any other way.
He is a cat person. He's also an engineer with a military career behind him. He's southern born and bred. He's a self-described Harley-Davidson riding, gun loving, pickup truck driving, muscle car building, GI Joe collecting nut.
As tough as all that sounds, another truth about Jonny is that he turns into the biggest of babies when it comes to his cats.
"I love my cats. Well, I love all animals really," he says.
Jonny and his wife Caroline enjoy riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. They have four grown children: Jonathon II, a veteran of the US Army with a degree in computer science; Brandon, a veteran of the US Air Force who recently gave them their first grandson, Emmett; Lauren, a graduate of the Tennessee School of Beauty; and Matthew, a 2014 graduate from James Clemens High School.
Jonny is a graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, Alabama. He also has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Shortly after earning his private pilot’s certificate, he graduated from the University of Florida with a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 1992, he graduated from the US Air Force Test Pilot School as a Flight Test Engineer and has flown over 35 types of military and civilian aircraft. He retired from the Air Force in 2004 and is currently employed as an engineer for the US Army. In 2011, he started his own business building action figure display lockers and began studying to learn to play the guitar.
His lifelong love of animals, especially Mighty Little Man, lead him to write about their story.
